NORMA DeMOTT Click here to view a video of Norma's life IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Margaret Norma Smith DeMott, 85, of Idaho Falls, made the journey home October 3, 2007. She was born November 3, 1921, in Idaho Falls, to John Smith and Lena Cornell Hebertson Smith. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. On May 1, 1941, she married Donald Dick DeMott in Idaho Falls. She was a dedicated mother to her son, Steve DeMott, who was born June 12, 1949, in Idaho Falls. She traveled extensively with Dick during his World War II military service, performing civil service duties. She also worked at Slusser Wholesale, from which she retired in 1980. Norma was very involved in her community. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a member of the Iona Posse Ladies Auxiliary, and a timer for the Bonneville Chariot Racing Association. Her interests were many and varied. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, gold panning, attending sporting events, and listening to her family perform music. She was an avid reader with a sharp mind and even sharper wit. Norma especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her son, Steve DeMott of Idaho Falls, four grandchildren, Richard (Tonya) DeMott of Idaho Falls, Keylee DeMott (Jacob Staggie) of Idaho Falls, Cody (Amy) DeMott of Pocatello, and Dan DeMott of Idaho Falls; her great grandchildren, Dakota DeMott, Shelby DeMott, Race DeMott, Moryah DeMott, Hailey Staggie, Allison Mae Staggie, and Jacob Staggie, Jr.; and a brother, Ray Smith of Rigby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, three brothers, John, Robert J., and L. Grant; and a sister, Lena Mae “Babe” Miller. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Steve Hunter officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday for one hour prior to the services, both at Wood Funeral Home.
