Marcia Kay Van Lente, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 23, 2025, in her home at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community.
Marcia was born January 30, 1952, in Zeeland, Michigan, to James Russell Van Den Berg, Sr. and Myrtle Kathryn Essenburg Van Den Berg. She grew up on the family farm in Drenthe, Michigan, and graduated from Zeeland High School. She also attended Grand Rapids Baptist College where she earned a Master's Degree.
On August 4, 1979, she married Scott Perry Van Lente in Allegan, Michigan. They were later divorced. Marcia made her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where, during her daughter's younger years, she worked at Temple View Elementary School. After her divorce, she worked as a dietary technician in senior citizen health care. Her career was spent caring for people, both young and old.
She was a Christian. Her greatest life's passion was being a mother and grandmother. She was the kindest person anyone could have had the pleasure of meeting. If you were loved by her, she made sure that you knew! She was the Vice President of Parkwood Meadow Residents Council. She enjoyed crafting, bingo, board games with family, swimming, and playing the piano and organ. She was a huge animal lover. She loved dogs, cats, turtles, and most of all, cows.
Marcia will be missed by her daughters, Morgan Van Lente of Pocatello, ID and Anneke (Derek) Wood of Idaho Falls, ID; brothers, Jim Van Den Berg of Holland, MI, Jerry (Charlynne) Van Den Berg of Zeeland, MI, Ken (Deb) Van Den Berg of Grand Rapids, MI, Carl Van Den Berg of Allegan, MI, Mike (Sharron) Van Den Berg of Allegan, MI, and Ed (Nancy) Van Den Berg of Saugatuck, MI; sisters, Phyllis Olivarez of Ardmore, OK and Charlene Brown of Mooresboro, NC; and two grandchildren, Parker and Isaac Dustin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gayle Van Den Berg and Wanda Pagan; and her non-biological sister, Darla Kindel.
As one last act of kindness, Marcia had always asked that her body be "donated to science." Her focus on helping others continues beyond her natural life. Her remains have been donated to the University of Utah.
An informal memorial service will be held at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road in Ammon, Idaho, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 2-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Bonneville County Humane Society at bonnevillehumanesociety.org/donations/.
