MANFERD G. GRIFFIN IDAHO FALLS, ID - Manferd Gene Griffin, 86, of Idaho Falls, died November 24, 2003, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. He was born May 3, 1917, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to John Collier Griffin and Barbara Jane Highfill Griffin. He attended Dillon School in Woodward, Oklahoma. He married Idamay R. Rolph September 19, 1938 in Los Angeles, California. During their marriage they raised five children, living in the Los Angeles area, Corona, Redondo Beach, Torrance, Antelope Valley, and Lompoc, California. They later divorced and he has since resided in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, and with daughters in Asheville, North Carolina, Reno, Nevada, and in Idaho Falls the past four years. He worked at many jobs to support his family during the war years including driving taxi, repairing appliances, and as a mechanic for Lockheed, Convair, North American Aviation and Douglas Aircraft on the flight lines. He grew up in the Pentecostal Church and Church of God, and recently attended the Church of the Nazarene in Clovis, New Mexico and in Idaho Falls. He was a member of the Elks, Moose, Eagles Lodges. He also took part in several horse riding clubs. He loved visiting his grandchildren and enjoyed horses, dancing, music, and fishing. Surviving are: Daughter: Donna Marilyn (Floyd) Ross, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Carole Ann (Bill) Sistek, Reno, NV Daughter: Linda Louise (Gene) Arnold, Goodyear, AZ Daughter: Roberta Joyce (Robbie) Roberts, Asheville, NC Son: John Nelson Griffin, Janesville, WI Sister: Lena Marie Hamill, Harbor City, CA 14 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charlie, Floyd and Claud, and six sisters, Iva Stout, Lila Dean, Velma Rakes, Irene Walker, Beulah Phillips and Evva Bowls. Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Assembly of God Church in Mooreland, Oklahoma, with Pastor Larry Henderson officiating. Local arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
