Mace "Butch" Riddle

Mace Albert "Butch" Riddle was born on June 8th, 1943 in Huntington, Utah to Clell Mace Riddle and Mary Lou Matthews. Butch left this world on March 29, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Butch had a rich life growing up between Montana, Arizona, Texas and Idaho with his four siblings; Donna, Jerry, Danny, and Mary Helen. Butch met his wife of fifty-four years, Linda Carroll, in Texas, where they married in 1963. Butch and Linda lived in Texas and Arizona before finally putting their roots down in Idaho in 1975. This is where they found the love of the great outdoors. As a family they had many adventures; including camping, fishing, and hunting trips. Fishing trips to Salmon, ID was one of their most enjoyable places to be. They would go several times throughout the year and for weeks at a time. This is where Butch taught many of his grandkids to fish and to learn to love the outdoors as much as he did. Butch built and opened a boat shop right in Rexburg, ID in 1975. The shop was opened for one year when the flood hit Rexburg and Butch rebuilt the business until he was unable to work as a boat mechanic due to health issues from the fumes. Butch started a 30 year career at Basic American shortly after the boat shop. Butch made many great memories and lifelong friends working there and retired at the age of sixty-two. In 1981 Butch and Linda bought five acres of land in Hibbard. Here they began to build a place where their family and friends would always feel welcome and were able to make memories that would never be forgotten. The family gatherings on the island, that Butch and Linda built, were the times everyone looked forward to and could never get enough of. Fishing, swimming, floating, fish fries and barbeques, along with sleepovers, became the never ending demand from all their grandkids. Butch is survived by his wife Linda Carroll Riddle, son Steven Riddle of Puyallup, WA, son and daughter-in-law David and Mariann Riddle of Billings, MT, daughter Denise Gallup of Mandan, ND, and daughter and son-in-law Stefanie and Reese Brower of Rexburg, ID. Beloved grandchildren surviving Butch include; Todd and wife Melissa, Robert, Justin and wife Jess, Lindsey, Brittney and husband Alex, Jessica and husband Alan, Mace and wife Briana, Skiler, and Kylie. Also, surviving Butch are twelve great grandchildren. Butch is welcomed with open arms by his mother Mary Lou Riddle, father Clell Mace Riddle, two sisters Donna Jean Riddle York and Jerry Lee Passey, and a grandson Brad Riddle, along with his fur babies; Sissy, Sammy and Snickers. The celebration of his life was held for his family and friends last Saturday, March 31st, 2018 at the Hibbard LDS Church.
