Mabel L. Rosa - 12/07/2001 Mabel L. Rosa - 12/07/2001 MABEL L. ROSA IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Mabel Layton Rosa, 100, of Caldwell, Idaho, died December 4, 2001, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. She was born January 26, 1901, at Hunter, Utah, to Christopher Edward Layton and Clara Maria Hyde Layton. She moved to Downey Idaho at age 8 and attended schools there. She married Leon Beaty Rosa October 2,1919 and moved to Alexander, Idaho where he was a Station Agent for the Union Pacific railroad. They also lived in McCammon, Shoshone, and Caldwell, where she was a homemaker and mother. She also worked as a seamstress. Her husband, Leon, was an avid square dance caller and together they taught square, round and ballroom dancing for many years. With a passion for traveling, she and Leon visited more than 112 foreign countries on three round the world trips including Afghanistan and a trip across Russia on the Trans-Siberian railroad. Her husband passed away March 3, 1989. As an active member of Golden Rod Chapter #64, Order of the Eastern Star of Soda Springs and Hermosa Chapter #30 of Caldwell, she served as Worthy Matron of Golden Rod Chapter in 1931 and later as a Grand Representative which took her to New Hampshire and Puerto Rico. Layton, Centerville, UTGranddaughter: Margo (Arthur) Griffin, Salt Lake City, UTGrandson: Jan (Sandy) Markowski, Idaho Falls, IDGrandson: David Markowski, Idaho Falls, IDGreat Grandson: Marek (Kim) Markowski, Boise, IDGreat Granddaughter: Sara (Jeremy) Hurst, Pocatello, IdGreat Granddaughter: Kira Griffin, Salt Lake City, UTGreat Granddaughter: Alice Griffin, Salt Lake City, UTGreat, Great Grandson: Christian Markowski, Boise, IDShe was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Gladys, Lena and Alice and 2 brothers, Corydon and Charles Layton. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Wood Chapel of the Pines, with Bishop John Blacker of the Idaho Falls LDS 3rd Ward officiating. Services will also be held in Caldwell. Burial will be in Canyon Hills Cemetery under the direction of Dakan Funeral Home. [ Previous Obituary - Janiece F.
