Lynn Smith

Lynn Dee Smith, 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 14, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center due to heart complications. Lynn was born July 1, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Floyd Merle Smith and Mary Amanda Bailey Smith. He grew up and attended schools in the Ririe area. After his graduation from Ririe High School he continued his education at Ricks College in Rexburg. He married Julie Buckland and three children were born to their union. They were later divorced. On October 1, 1988, he married Sondra Getsinger in Idaho Falls. Lynn worked for Prudential Insurance for 30 years as a health and life insurance agent. He was an active agent with Blue Shield Blue Cross until his death. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Sondra, of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jeffrey Lynn (Tammy) Smith of Louisville, KY; daughter, Viki Ann Smith of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Lanny V. Smith of Boise, ID; Stepdaughter, Carissa Anne (Robert) Neff of Austin, TX; 6 grandchildren: Christopher, Kala Leann, Kody Lynn, Krystal, Lila, Elsa; 1 great grandson, Raiden Lynn Sarver; brother, Reid F. (Barbara) Smith of Bakersfield, CA; sister, Maureen (David) Thurston of Rigby, ID brother-in-law, Vernon Cook of Echo, OR; and sister-in-law, Onda Smith of Ririe, ID. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna Cook; a brother, Brent B. Smith; and two infant daughters, Lucile Mary Smith and Julie Lynn Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2011, at Wood East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday for one hour prior to services, both visitations at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
