Lynn Weaver Harris, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 14, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Lynn was born December 18, 1939, in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Denton Weaver Harris and Martha Redford Maughan. He lived the first seven years of his life in Thatcher, Idaho, in the ranch house his great grandfather built. Then the family moved to Soda Springs where he attended school. Lynn served an LDS mission to the Western States. He attended BYU for one year, Utah State for one year, and then finished his education at Idaho State University in electronics. On January 28, 1964, he married Sharon Rose Merchen in Ely, Nevada. They were sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple on January 6, 1965. To this union were born four children, Dana Lynne, Jon Denton, Robert Earl, and Justin Levi Harris. After college he worked for AT&T in Pocatello. Then they moved to Soda Springs in 1968 where Lynn worked for the county for two years. Then he worked for Kerr-McGee for fifteen years. Later, he worked in the facilities department for the Soda Springs School District. Lynn also enjoyed working on his farm. In 2011, they sold the farm in Soda Springs and moved to Idaho Falls. Lynn enjoyed rebuilding old cars, farming, picking huckleberries, camping, fishing, and the outdoors. He loved having his family around. He was the kindest, most gentle man and served all around him. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings including Sunday School, Young Mens, Scouts, High Council, and Bishop. Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharon Merchen Harris of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Dana Harris of Lufkin, TX; son, J.D. (Tamara) Harris of Preston, ID; son, Rob Harris of Pocatello, ID; son, Justin (Karla) Harris of Idaho Falls, ID; grandsons, Avery, Hunter, Porter, Cedar, and Tyler Harris; granddaughters, Kait, Cadence, Phoebe, and Reagan Harris; sister, Joan Crane of Georgetown, ID; sister, Susan (Carl) Jorgensen of Soda Springs, ID; sister, Anne (Wade) Olorenshaw of Ivins, ID; and sister-in-law, Donna Merchen of Soda Springs, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denton and Martha Harris; brother, Carroll Dean Harris; sister, Janet Harris; and brothers-in-law, Reid Crane and Phillip Merchen. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Iona LDS 1st Ward, 5169 E. Denning. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Road) and Wednesday from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
