She was born in Boise, Idaho, on May 28, 1942, to Lee Oliver Belknap and Helyn Lorraine Thompson Belknap. Her parents divorced in 1947. Lynda grew up in Montana, and Idaho. She considered Toston, Montana, her hometown. She was raised by her single mom with help from her maternal grandparents, Bill and Leah Thompson.
On February 14, 1978, she married her soulmate, James L. (Jim) Siegel in Puyallup, Washington. They merged their families and together raised six children. She retired from the Boeing Company, where she worked in Quality Assurance. After retirement, Lynda and Jim moved to Nevada, and then to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they remained for the rest of their lives. Jim preceded her in death on June 8, 2018.
Late in life, while living in Idaho Falls, she was delighted to discover she had two living half-brothers. They formed a strong bond and visited with each other frequently. She also cherished a special bond with two of her grandsons, Kaleb and Zackery Belknap. Lynda delighted in their personalities and their achievements.
Lynda was a three-time cancer survivor, a sports fan, and a politics junkie. She stayed on top of national politics until the end of her life! She had very strong opinions about how things ought to be. She was a lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She cherished her extended Thompson family and her memories of growing up in rural Broadwater County of Montana. She requested cremation and to have her ashes spread in her childhood home in Montana. Her son, Randy, is committed to making that happen.
