LYMAN WELLS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lyman G. Wells, 87, died July 22, 2008, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. He was born December 23, 1920, to Samuel Ernest Wells and Marian Jessie Nazer Wells in Monroe, Utah. He attended elementary school in Joseph, Utah, and Roberts, Idaho. He graduated from Roberts High School in 1938. He joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre aboard the U.S.S. Richmond during World War II. Following the war, he farmed in Roberts and worked in the potato packing plant where he met his future wife, Barbara Ann Lang. He married Barbara Ann Lang on March 14, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He continued to farm until 1949, when they moved to Pocatello, where he to worked in the U.S. Navy gun plant as a machinist. In 1952 they moved to Glendale, California, where he found work as a machinist specializing as a tool and die maker. In 1958, they moved back to Idaho Falls to work at the Idaho National Laboratory as a machinist and eventually moved into design engineering. He retired in 1986, and continued to live in Idaho Falls with his wife of 60 years until his death. During his life, he and his wife enjoyed cross-country traveling by car and with good friends, visiting almost all 50 states. Favorite travels were to Mexico and Las Vegas casinos. Lyman particularly loved playing the slot machines and always had great luck in anything he played. He was always up for a good game of cards or cribbage as well. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, keeping track of all kinds of sports, especially football. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his children and grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. He was very proud of the people in his life and they each held a special place in his heart. He was a member of BPOE for several years and a life member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Wells of Idaho Falls; Daughter, Kathy Lynne (Michael) Dial of Virginia Beach, VA; Son, Richard Paul (Anne) Wells of Pocatello, ID Sister, Charlene (Ian) Martindale, Boise, ID 2 Grandchildren and 5 great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marden and Ken. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street. The family will visit with friends for thirty minutes prior to the services at the church. ---------------------------------------------
