Lyle was the first child born to Margie and Carling Young on August 23, 1956.
He started helping grandpa on his farm at the age of 6 and he thought it was the coolest thing to drive a tractor. This helped develop his love of driving. Almost all of Lyle’s jobs were driving some sort of vehicle. He drove to work just to drive something else- from farm equipment, fork lifts, feed trucks, over the road 18 wheelers, and tractors.
Lyle was a chess player and competed in several competitions, winning a gold and silver set at the age of 17. He added many more sets to his collection over the years. He also collected dragons and elephant figurines, and had a large collection of salt and pepper shakers, but his main passion was coins.
Lyle loved animals and raised many over the years: calves, sheep, pigs, turkeys, chickens, cats, and a dog that rode around with him for 15 years.
Whether you knew Lyle for a short time or a long time, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He died at his home on June 23, 2025.
Lyle is survived by his sister, Karen (Barry) Nield of Idaho Falls, ID, brother, John (Angie) Young of Idaho Falls, ID, sister, Betty (Bill) Brown of Ririe, ID, brother, Steven (Jodi) Young of Dale City, UT, brother, Daniel (Heidi) Young of South Weber, UT, and sister, Mary (Chuck) Sterlling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Carling and Margie Louise Young; brothers, Verl Young, Joseph Young, and David Young.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, 4600 S. Yellowstone Hwy, Idaho Falls.
