Lyle Lee Reed, 93, of Ammon, passed away May 9, 2024, in Georgetown, Texas, at his daughter’s home, just five days after celebrating his 73rd wedding anniversary with his wife, JoAnn.
Lee was born December 10, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Albert C Reed and Annie Melvina Judy Reed. He attended schools in Lincoln and Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Physics.
On May 4, 1951, he married JoAnn Brown in the Idaho Falls Temple. Lee and JoAnn made their home in the Idaho Falls area for a short time (including the Judy’s dry farm in Ozone) and moved to Fremont, California, where they raised their family. Lee worked as a Physicist for General Electric.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served most notably as a Boy Scout Leader and served six missions with his wife. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, spending time with his family, and doing family history.
Lee is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Reed of Ammon, ID; daughters, Carolyn (Emory) Martin of Texas, Colleen (Jay) Pimentel of California, Mary Ann (Mark) Morrison of Kansas, Brenda (Willard) Dye of California, Darlene (Lance) Cheatham of Wyoming; son, Alan (Julie) Reed of Oregon; 29 grandchildren, 95+ great grandchildren, and a few great-grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Gary Lee Reed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rexburg City Cemetery.
