Lyle "Ooley" Piram, 69, of Idaho Falls passed away June 15, 2017 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
He was born September 13, 1947 in Idaho Falls to Victor Francis Piram and Sarah Bucchner Piram. He grew up and attended school in Idaho Falls and continued his education at Idaho State University.
He was a fishing guide on the South Fork. Ooley started guiding on the South Fork in 1978. He was the last of a group of longtime guides calling themselves "The Brutally Handsome River Guides". His reputation as a joker and storyteller made him a frequently requested guide among returning customers. He had a river of fishing stories, especially from the 1970's when customers sometimes got a little wild.
Ooley was a skilled welder and float boat builder. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle racing and skiing. Between 1969-1973, Ooley was on the racing team for Ski-Doo and Sno Jet. On June 8, 1981, Ooley won the men’s left handed division in monster arm wrestling at the Bourbon Street Bar in Idaho Falls.
Ooley, you will be missed!
He is survived by his sister, Patsy Hendricksen of Idaho Falls.
A memorial service will be held in September.
