Lyle J. “Mak” McKinlay, 76, of Blackfoot, passed away July 24, 2022, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Mak was born June 1, 1946, in Rigby, Idaho, to Val H. McKinlay and Nola Marie Jones McKinlay. He grew up and attended schools in Southern Idaho and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
Mak worked as a Radiation Control Tech at the Idaho National Lab. Prior to that, he owned and operated his own blacksmith shop.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the outdoors. He raised horses and cows on the farm. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his family and would do anything for them, especially his grandkids.
Mak is survived by his son, Scott (Wendy) McKinlay of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Dustin McKinlay of Moab, UT; Brandon (Heidi) McKinlay of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kadee McKinlay of Blackfoot, ID; sister, Mickey (March) McKinlay of Boise, ID; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Val and Nola McKinlay; son, Todd McKinlay; sisters, Joyce Hardy and Sharon Brown; brother, Gene McKinlay; and infant daughter, Jennie McKinlay.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
