Lyle was born July 13, 1938, in Ammon, Idaho, to Lyle Marion Anderson and Hattie Beulah Singley Anderson. He grew up in Ammon and attended school in Ammon and Idaho Falls. In 1955, he entered the Navy. He worked as a hospital corpsman. During that time he met Linda King. They were married in 1959, and had two sons, Nick and Ray. They were later divorced. On June 9, 1972, Lyle married Ruth Barnes, and he welcomed her four children Doug, Nancy, Kim, and Kirk. To this blended family they added their "our" children, Joy and Jay. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on their 26th wedding anniversary. Lyle and Ruth made their home in Ammon where Lyle worked as a ceramic tile contractor. He was a hard worker, and enjoyed getting to know the people he worked for and with. After 42 years, he retired, and then enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Lyle was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed farming the small acreage they lived on. He raised cows, chickens, sheep, goats and liked gardening. He also enjoyed basketball, hunting, pitching horseshoes, riding snow machines, playing cards, and reading. Lyle always had a never-ending candy stash and cookie jar that he was happy to share. He loved his grandkids. They would sit on his lap while he was watching TV, and they always had a place to sit next to grandpa at the dinner table. He had a never-ending love for his family.
