LUKE TAPP IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Luther Edward "Luke" Tapp, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 8, 2006 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He had been under the care of Creekside Home Health. He was born August 19, 1922, in Washington, D.C. to Peyton Tapp and Hattie May Roberts Tapp. He grew up and attended schools in Arlington, Virginia. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Maxine Brown in 1948 and they were later divorced. He married Donna Rumsey and they were later divorced. He played baseball for the Idaho Falls Russets, 1946 through 1948, with Billy Martin, and was known as "Luke the Spook." He was a Postal Carrier, bus driver, Ag Inspector, and worked for many years as a Potato Broker. He loved spending time with his kids, playing and watching baseball and being near the ocean. Survivors include: Daughter: Marsha Egbert, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Marilyn (Dave) Young, Bakersfield, CA Son: Bill (Beth) Tapp, Idaho Falls, ID 8 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Peyton “Jr.” Tapp and Benjamin “Benny” Tapp. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
