Lula Marie Speas, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 23, 2023, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community.
Lula was born November 26, 1931, in Payette, Idaho, to Elmer A Pemberton and Reva Arvesta Coulter Pemberton. She grew up and attended schools in McCall, Emmett, and graduated from Riggins High School.
On March 4, 1949, she married Rex Herbert Speas in Adams County, Idaho. Lula and Rex made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, then moved to San Diego, California, where they raised their children, Rick, Randy, and Terrie. After retirement, they returned to Idaho Falls to enjoy their golden years together. Rex and Lula were married for 73 years before his passing in 2022.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, she enjoyed doing arts and crafts, cooking, camping, fishing, and bird watching. Most of all, she loved playing cards with family and friends.
Lula is survived by her son, Rick Speas of Garberville, CA; son, Randy (Joyce) Speas of Idaho Falls; daughter, Terrie (Brandon) Lozano of Roanoke, TX; brother, James Gray of Echo, OR; sister, Lois Dawson of Boise, ID; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Speas; parents, Elmer and Reva Pemberton; brothers, Bob and Bill Pemberton; and sisters, Tanis Walters, Barbara Hutchings, and Dorine Welker.
Private family services will be held.
