Lula Sargent Call

Lula E. Wilkins Sargent Call, age 95, passed away February 3, 2013, at the home of her son in Idaho Falls, of causes incident to age. Lula was born May 29, 1917, in a log cabin on the southwest side of Ucon, Idaho, the eighth of nine children born to Andrew Wilkins and Vida Cole Wilkins. She graduated from Ucon High School, where she was active in music and drama. Since her family owned no farm ground, much of her early youth was spent with her sister herding the family and neighbors' dairy and beef cattle through the adjacent sage brush and along ditch and canal banks for the animals to daily forage for food. On November 5, 1935, she married Lloyd Sargent at Coltman, Idaho, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple November 7, 1935. Lloyd passed away July 1996 She is the mother of Neil (Marilyn) Sargent, Newel (Marjorie) Sargent, Lynn (JoAnn) Sargent and Van (LarRene) Sargent, all of Idaho Falls. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, and also worked for Jack and Jean Bakery, J C Penney, and sorting potatoes and wrapping meat for Taylor and King B Meats. She spent the first 47 years of her life in Ucon. She belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. On September 9, 1967, she married Gwyn Call of Idaho Falls. They moved to their home on Beverly Road in Idaho Falls and resided there until October of 2010, when health issues and age necessitated her living with her youngest son. Lula was meticulous in her dress and appearance. She was an excellent mother and grandmother, enjoying a special friendship with her grandchildren and delighted in attending as many of their activities and special occasions as possible. She kept her quick wit, and excellent memory of experiences, family and friends to the end. Dear friends and neighbors from her former ward in Idaho Falls continued to visit in her waning years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Leslie (Connie) Wilkins and Joseph (Gladys) Wilkins, and her sisters, Lydia (Mitchell) Ball, Elsie (Morris) Ball, Lillian (Roy) Miller, Nora (Orville) Smith, Laura (Darl) Peterson, Erma (Golden) Marley, her husbands, Lloyd Sargent and Gwyn Call, her great grandson, Tyson Egbert, and her son, Newel Sargent. Besides her four sons, she leaves behind a posterity of 21 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.
