Lugene Waddoups Morris, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 12, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Lugene was born November 24, 1924, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Ralph Owen Waddoups and Nancy Fern Whiting Waddoups. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg, Moore, and Menan, Idaho, and graduated from Midway High School. She also attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. On January 2, 1946, she married Harper Kay Morris in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, after he returned from serving in the Pacific as a pilot during World War II. They had three children, Brian, Marcia and Gerri Lyn. Lugene and Kay lived in Provo, Utah, before returning to Idaho Falls. In 1950, Kay was recalled to active duty in the Army. They then lived in Germany, Iran, and across the United States while serving in the military. In 1964, the family returned to Idaho while Kay served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After Kay retired, the family settled in Idaho Falls. There, Lugene worked for School District 91 at Longfellow Elementary and OE Bell Junior High as the school secretary. She then went to work for Drs. Beck and Sant at the Oral Health Center, as their receptionist. Lugene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving throughout her life in numerous positions, including Relief Society President, Primary President, and Stake Young Women’s presidency. She enjoyed music, attending the ballet, crocheting, and gardening. Her family was her first love and spending time with them gave her great joy. Lugene is survived by her son, Brian (Teresa) Morris of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Marcia (David) Bailey of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Gerri Lyn (Craig) Curry of Littleton, CO; sister, Lela (Dennis) Taylor of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Ray (JoAnne) Waddoups of Mesa, AZ; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two sisters, Mary Nell Doyle and Elaine Oaks. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Idaho Falls LDS 31st Ward, 1165 Azalea, with Brother Tim Wahe, First Counselor in the Bishopric, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Saturday from 9:15-10:15 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby-Pioneer Cemetery.
