LUEVA WACKERLI
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lueva Becker Wackerli passed peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 30, 2003, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was born November 23, 1924, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Henry and Helena (Eilts) Becker.
She grew up on the family farm in Oakland Valley, west of Idaho Falls, and attended the one-room schoolhouse there. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1942 she moved to Santa Cruz, California, where she completed her schooling at Western Union. She was employed by Western Union at Twin Falls, Provo, and Carmel, California.
She left Carmel on vacation to Idaho Falls, where she met her future husband, Burt Allen (B.A.) Wackerli. After a year of dating they were married November 21, 1945 in Idaho Falls. Burt’s business, Falls Tractor and Equipment Company, was located on West Broadway in Idaho Falls, which later became the B. A. Wackerli Company and is presently Wackerli Auto Center. The success of the company was due in part to Lueva’s dedication and continued involvement.
Lueva was an original member of the F. A. Bridge Club, started in 1946, and also an evening Bridge Club. Her passion for bridge and the enduring friendships she made have lasted through the years. Her other interests included dancing to big band music, the Idaho Falls Posse, bowling, travel, and any kind of card game.
Burt and Lueva were blessed with four children, Steve, Stan, Trudy, and Todd. Lueva's greatest love was her family and homemaking. She enjoyed boating, camping, and fishing at Palisades, Island Park, and Yellowstone. Later in life she loved spending time at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her compassion, humor, and dedication to others will be greatly missed.
Lueva is survived by her four children, Steve [Laurie] Wackerli, Stan [Jackie] Wackerli, Trudy [Doug] Harmel, and Todd [Karrie] Wackerli, and her grandsons, K. C. Thorne, Landon Wackerli, Lucas Wackerli, Justin Wackerli, and Jarrett Wackerli, all of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Lois Homer, Inez Wessell, Ruth Hackman, and two brothers, Hollis Becker and Willis Becker.
