LUELLA HOLMGREN WADE
GILMER, TX -- Luella Davis Holmgren Wade, 86, of Gilmer, Texas, formerly of Idaho Falls, Ucon, and Ammon, passed away March 1, 2003, in Gilmer, Texas.
She was born July 1, 1916, in Ucon, to William Davis and Esther Tyler Davis. She grew up and attended schools in the area.
She married Elmer Leonard Holmgren November 24, 1936, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls and Ammon, where she was a homemaker and mother. In September, 1974, they served a full-time LDS mission to Washington, D.C. Upon returning they settled in Bloomington, Utah. Elmer passed away January 8, 1983. Four years later she married Byron A. Wade on December 12, 1986, in the Dallas LDS Temple, and they made their home in Gilmer, Texas.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various capacities over the years, including Stake Relief Society President, Young Women President, Girls Camp Director, and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed art and traveling and traveled to many countries throughout the world.
Surviving are:Husband: Byron A. Wade, Gilmer, TXDaughter: JoAnn [Douglas L.] Hayes, Everett, WADaughter: Janet [James H.] Ward, Lewiston, IDBrother: George M. [Betty] Davis, Idaho Falls7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Holmgren, a son, Davis L. Holmgren, four brothers, Don Davis, Vern Davis, Ivan Davis, and Roy Davis, and two sisters, Edna Elg and Beth Sargent.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Ammon LDS 4th Ward, 3002 Central Avenue, Ammon.
The family will visit with friends on Friday beginning at 12 Noon at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
