LUCY M. MORRIS
DAHO FALLS, ID --
Lucy Mae Morris, 81, of Idaho Falls, died May 19, 2003 at Eastern Idaho
Regional Medical Center of heart failure.
She
was born April 11, 1922 in Tipton, Tennessee to Abner Arden Armstrong, and
Inez LaVara Smith.
She
married John Barton to whom a son, John Wayne, and a daughter, Diann were
born. They were later divorced.
She
married Francis Singleton. He died in 1959 of a heart attack. In 1962, she
married Leland Morris in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
She
worked at the Archnail sewing canvas tarps and for the Thomas Dee Memorial
Hospital and the Weber Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper and laundress.
She worked for the Utah Tailoring Mills, and the Defense Depot of Ogden
as a seamstress until she had to quit because of allergies.
As
an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in
the Idaho Falls 39th ward, she held callings as Secretary of Young Women,
Primary Secretary, Relief Society Counselor and Secretary and Visiting Teacher.
The
family would like to express their sincere thanks and deepest appreciation
to all the staff on the 4th and 6th floors and to the staff in Respiratory
at EIRMC for all the care, and love extended to her.
Surviving
are:
Husband: Leland Howard Morris, Idaho Falls, ID
Son: John Wayne (Janice) Barton, Sr., Willard, UT
Daughter: Diann Barton Rutherford, Ogden, UT
Step-daughter: Annette (Daniel) Bybee, Lyman, WY
Sister: Lucille (Ray) Christensen, Layton, UT
26 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ruben Armstrong and
two infant grandsons.
Funeral
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2003, at the Idaho Falls
LDS 39th Ward, 7940 North 35th West, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Larry Klingler
officiating.
The
family will visit with friends Thursday from 7-8:30 at Wood Funeral Home,
273 North Ridge, and for one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Burial
will be in Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral
Home.
