LUCILLE TAYSOM ST. ANTHONTY, ID -- Lucille Joyce Mitchell Taysom, 80, of St. Anthony, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. She was under the care of Hospice Alliance. Lucille was born November 1, 1928 in Shelley, Idaho to Thomas James Mitchell and Clara Rose Beck Mitchell. Her mother died when she was seven years old and she lived with various relatives until her father married Gladys Robertson. She graduated from Shelley High School. After high school, she met Clint Taysom. They were married May 16, 1948. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 9, 1970. Together they raised two daughters. Clint and Lucille celebrated their 61st anniversary this year. They lived in Shelley for many years and moved to St. Anthony in 1968. Lucille was a hard worker and a loyal employee. She had an after-school job while she was in high school. Later, she worked for the Soil Conservation Service and the Idaho First National Bank in Shelley. Lucille owned and operated the Gambles Hardware store with Clint in St. Anthony. She began work for First Security Bank in 1976 as a secretary and moved up through the ranks eventually becoming manager of the St. Anthony branch. She was a fund raiser for the Heart Fund and the American Cancer Society. She was a volunteer at the local elementary school to help children learn to read and she regularly donated blood. Lucille was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in various callings. She was a dedicated mother and a loyal wife who worked hard to make a good home for her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing clothing for her girls. Lucille loved spending time with her grandchildren; especially taking nature walks with them. Lucille is survived by her husband Clint of St. Anthony, one daughter Dianne (Robert R.) Johnson of Idaho Falls, 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Derek) Hays, Matt (Jen) Johnson, Hillary (Chad) Thomas, Emily (Jared) Miller, Ben (Cynda) Johnson, 14 great grandchildren, and a brother, Tommy (Carol) Mitchell of Idaho Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers James and Bob, and her daughter Vonnie Taysom. Lucille was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to Bonnie Meyers and LaTawna Nelson of Hospice Alliance. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Parker LDS First Ward (132 N. Center St. Parker, ID) with Bishop Jed Stoddard officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Following the services, burial will be in the Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online:
