LUCILLE McCARREY
Lucille Young McCarrey passed away on July 20, 2002, at the home of her granddaughter Miriah (Trever) Peterson, surrounded by her loving family.
Lucille was born on November 18, 1918 at Willard, Box Elder County, Utah to Leslie Henry and Eva Melissa Cole Young. She attended primary grades and high school in Salt Lake City, and graduated from the University of Utah, with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She taught kindergarten and first grade for a number of years in Salt Lake City. She also completed a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Eastern States Mission (she spent most of her mission in New York State).
On June 17, 1948, she married Rulon Squires McCarrey in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Rexburg, Idaho, where she was an active member of her church, including serving as a Relief Society President.
After her husband, Rulon, retired from teaching in the Sociology Department at Ricks College, they moved to Idaho Falls to be closer to their children and to be temple officiators. She also served in the name extraction program. Later, she and her husband were called to serve a mission in the Texas, San Antonio Mission.
Lucille's main focus in life was being a good wife and mother to her three daughters. She loved cooking, homemaking and making certain that everyone was comfortable. For enjoyment she liked nothing better than to listen to classical music and to read her scriptures and good literature. During the years she taught, she was very dedicated to her students in giving them a sound foundation in reading, which she felt was so important. She carried this dedication on to her children and grandchildren. Her daughters want to express their appreciation for the wonderful mother that she was and how she touched their lives in so many positive ways and for her love and support of their father throughout their lives together.
