Lucian Jermaine Johnson

Lucian Jermaine Johnson, 53, of Da Nang, Vietnam, passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2026, while living in Vietnam.

Lucian was born on March 21, 1973, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was lovingly raised by Lenona and Herd David Johnson, who gave him a nurturing and supportive home. Lucian grew up in Kalamazoo, MI, attended local schools, and graduated from Comstock High School in 1991.

Following high school, Lucian proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army from 1991 to 1997. After his military service, he dedicated himself to protecting others as a police officer in Columbia, Tennessee, Rexburg, Idaho, and Las Vegas, Nevada, including time as a S.W.A.T. officer.

Lucian's passions were many. He loved photography, videography, public speaking, singing, dancing, cooking, working out, traveling, and coaching. But above all, he loved being a father. His children-Isaiah, Jada, Zion, Elijah, and Aspen-were his pride and joy, and he delighted in every moment with them, from coaching on the football field to cheering them on in life's many adventures. Those who knew Lucian remember his energy, his sense of humor, and the way he could light up a room with his smile or his laugh.

He also loved helping young people grow, sharing his skills and encouragement as an assistant football coach at Thunder Ridge High School, where his son Elijah played. Lucian's generosity of spirit and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Lucian is survived by his children: Isaiah Kai Baca of Phoenix, AZ; Jada Lin Johnson of Spokane, WA; Zion Jermaine Johnson of Spokane, WA; Elijah (Teanna) Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; and Aspen Liberty May Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; his sister, Arie Johnson of Kalamazoo, MI; and his grandchild, Eagle Jermaine Louie-McGee.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cadence Liberty Johnson, and his parents, Herd David Johnson and Lenona Jean Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will greet friends from 1:00-1:45 p.m. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
