LOWELL G. SMITH
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lowell Goodwin Smith, 97, of Idaho Falls, died October 27, 2001, at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living Center of causes incident to age. He was under of the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
He was born November 20, 1903, at Preston, to James George Smith and Mary Louise Gilbert Smith. He grew up in Preston, attended schools there, and graduated from the Oneida Academy (now Preston High School).
He married Georgia Mae Bingham October 6, 1926, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Their marriage was performed by Joseph Fielding Smith. They lived briefly in several places before settling in Ogden, Utah, where he was a salesman and retired from Hill Air Force Base as a Warehouseman. Following his retirement they moved to Idaho Falls, where he has lived for 26 years. Georgia passed away May 2, 1994.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various capacities over the years. He was a hard working example to his family and enjoyed his yard and gardening.
Surviving are:Son: George Lowell [Shirley] Smith, Idaho FallsSon: Clair Bingham [Darlene] Smith, Bountiful, UTDaughter: Dorothy B. [Clayton] Miller, Idaho Falls 13 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren, 10 Great Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, ten brothers and sisters, a grandson, and a great grandson.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at the Idaho Falls LDS Eagle Rock Stake Center, 2020 South Charlotte Drive, with Bishop Kenneth Russell of the Idaho Falls LDS Pioneer Ward officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, and for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.
