Martha Louise Blackett Jewkes, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 10, 2013, at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center in Ammon. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Louise was born August 4, 1920, in Wells, Nevada, to Leonard Edward Blackett and Martha Angeline Cazier Blackett. She grew up and attended schools in Wells and graduated from Wells High School. She lived in Wells until 1958, when she moved to Elko, Nevada, for three years. In 1961 she moved to Idaho Falls, where she attended Glenn E. Clark Business School and earned a certificate as a secretary.
On October 5, 1940, she married Floyd Eugene Jewkes in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Wells, Nevada, where they raised their three children, Eleanor, Larry, and Leonard. They moved to Elko, Nevada, briefly in 1961 then came to Idaho Falls later that year. Louise was a wife, mother, and homemaker, and also worked intermittently as a store clerk and secretary. Floyd passed away January 31, 2003.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Louise enjoyed music, especially the flute and piano, and family activities. She also loved playing tennis and basketball.
Louise is survived by
Daughter, Eleanor (Albert) Charboneau of Henderson, NV;
Son, Larry (Vickie) Jewkes of Idaho Falls, ID,
Son, Leonard (Diane) Jewkes of North Pole, AK;
Brother, Ralph Blackett of Des Moines, WA;
9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Eleanor Jean Long, and three brothers, George Blackett, Jack Blackett, and Frank Blackett.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Pastor Rick Brown of Idaho Falls Calvary Chapel officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood East Side. Burial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Wells Cemetery in Wells, Nevada.
