LOUIS MEPPEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Louis Meppen, 75, of Idaho Falls, died
July 17, 2003, at his home of cancer.
He was born January 5, 1928, at Idaho Falls, to Louis
Ernest Meppen and Melda Bingham Meppen. He grew up in the area and attended
Idaho Falls schools. He was active in Pep Band during junior high and high
school.
On October 27, 1949, he married Lorna Alice Pearce in Iona.
Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May
9, 1992. He was a farmer and worked on the family farm and later worked
for Cream Top Dairy. He then worked in maintenance at General Electric and
was a Lieutenant in security at Argonne National Laboratories until his
retirement.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, he served as Sunday School President, High Priest Group Leader,
and as an officiator in the Temple. He enjoyed music, traveling, golf, and
handgun competitions. Lou especially loved spending time with his family
and friends and always had a smile and a handshake for everyone he met.

Brother: William (Jean) Meppen, Idaho Falls, ID
14 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Brandon Meppen.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mulvey and his staff for
their kindness and caring during Lou’s illness.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22,
2003, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane,
with Bishop Kerry Holmgren officiating.
The family will meet with friends on Monday from 7-8:30
p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and Tuesday for one hour prior
to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., Idaho Falls, ID 83402
