Louis Harvey Carney, 81, of Idaho Falls, died at his home on Sunday, August 21, 2011 from injuries received during a wind storm.
Louis was born September 7, 1929 in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Raymond Carney and Myrtle Hull Carney. He attended school in Bone and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1947. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married LuJuanna Gail White on June 20, 1953 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Louis worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. He worked for the Post Register following his retirement from the postal service.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Louis and LuJuanna served a mission to the Los Angeles Family History Center from 1996 to 1997. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America program. He loved helping young men receive the Eagle Scout Award. Louis received many achievements and awards for his service in scouting, including the Silver Beaver Award.
He was politically active and wrote letters to the editor expressing his views. Louis was very generous to all those he met. He enjoyed woodworking and making walking sticks and wooden nickels. He also enjoyed gardening, walking, and associating with life long friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Son: Kevin (Bobette) Carney of Idaho Falls, Idaho
Son: Kenneth (Stephanie) Carney of Sandy, Utah
19 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren
Brother: Ray Carney of Littleton, Colorado
Twin Sister: Lona Carter of Seattle, Washington
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughters Laurie Ann and Jean Marie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Idaho Falls LDS Fox Hollow Ward, on 2345 West 17th South, with Bishop Don Dahl officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and on Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery.
