PEGGY WAGONER
SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- Our precious and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend left this world on September 23, 2008, to take her place in eternity with her Heavenly Father. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 63 years, her children, and grandchildren. She was in the University of Utah Medical Center, Salt Lake City Utah, at the time of her passing.
The world became a brighter place in 1924 when the Lord blessed Bradley and Ruth France with their new baby girl. Peggy, born in Vallejo, California, grew up in San Carlos, California. She attended Sequoia High School where she lettered in Hockey. She also studied at Bethesda Naval Hospital, and San Jose State College.
When the call to duty came during World War II, Peggy joined the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) in 1944. She served until the death of her father, and was honorably discharged in 1945. It was during this time she met a handsome young soldier in a USO Club. Roy entered her life that night and never left it.
Peggy married Roy in Los Angeles, California, in 1945, after his return from Europe . After they exchanged their vows, they moved to Idaho, where Peggy began to experience life on the open range. She loved Idaho for its beauty and splendor. She soon immersed herself in farming and ranching, learning the trades well. They raised milk cows, steers, and pulling horses over the years. They settled on race horses, owning and operating Stony Broke stables.
They have three children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She loved nothing better than having her children and grandchildren around her. She enjoyed summer visits, trips they took, and even just walks by the river. She once wrote "a great day was with her grandchildren, spoiling them and taking them home."
After her grandchildren, she loved to travel; her motto: "A rolling stone collects no moss." She traveled with her children as they grew up, including a trip to the Seattle Worlds Fair. As her children left home, she continued to travel with her sister and a travel group whenever to wherever she could, visiting many foreign countries, twenty-two in all. Her travels took her from the Great Wall in China to the Pyramids of Mexico. She also made numerous trips with Roy, attending Farrier Conventions across the country, a vacation to Branson, Missouri, and Hawaii. They also took road trips through Montana, Northern Idaho, and Washington, attending her Grandson's wedding and visiting her Great-Granddaughter. Their last trip was through the California Sequoias, Redwoods, and the Bay Area visiting friends and family.
Peggy went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Company in 1956, and continued her career with "Ma Bell" until her retirement in 1982. She remained active with the Telephone Pioneers, enjoying the monthly luncheons, and visiting with her friends and co-workers. She was also an active member of the American Business Woman's Association for many years. In 1997, her peers voted her as "Women of the Year," an honor she appreciated so deeply.
Peggy is survived by her husband Roy E. Wagoner of Idaho Falls, her children Sharon Pugh of Castle Rock, Colorado, Steven Wagoner and Douglas Wagoner both of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Grandchildren: Cindy, Mike, Lindsay, James, and Sean. Great-Grandchildren: Evelyn, Beau and Katelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She will always be remembered for living her life to the fullest, loving her family and friends, and for being a wonderful wife, mother, Grandparent, and good friend. She carried her burden through life with pride and persistence, never complaining and always willing to take on someone else's load. Peggy will be deeply missed by all that knew her, and the world will be a little dimmer.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd, 2008, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Rd).
Graveside Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Fielding Memorial Park.
A memorial gathering will be held at the First Christian Church, 1800 - 12th St, Idaho Falls, Idaho after the service.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the First Christian Church, 1800 - 12th St, Idaho Falls, Idaho.

I knew Peggy from the church services at The Christian Center and through my sister, Betty, who worked with her at the Phone Company and she was a very special, always caring, wonderful person and I know she is now with her Lord, Jesus, and is well and rejoicing with her loved ones there. Praying for peace for all in her family that they know they will see her again.

Roy, Doug, and family,
We are sorry to say that we did not get to know Peggy very well. We read her obituary with great admiration for a woman who enjoyed life to the fullest. From early years with her service in the WAVES, to her later years enjoying her family, traveling, and the exciting sport of horse racing. 63 years of marriage....Roy, we know you will miss her. Please know that you are in our prayers.
Love, Ray and Linda Proctor

My deepest sympathy goes out to your wonderful family. I am Lindsay's best friend and I have known Peggy since I was 13 yrs old. I spent a lot of time out at the farm with Lindsay and Grandma. Peggy was an amazing, loving woman with a free spirit. In the 16 yrs that I got to know her she made a great impact on my life. She will be missed dearly.

I have known both Roy and Peggy for over 40 years. Our staff at The Falls Insurance Center have enjoyed their friendship and the opportunity to provide insurance for them. They have always been great people to know. I will miss seeing Roy being so helpful to Peggy and his tender heart for her.

Gee, I'm glad Dave was in mine and your lives. That's how I met and also became "old" friends with the Wagoners. What stories I've heard; what stories were told; I wouldn't trade them for anything. Peggy was always a strength to her cowboy hubby; always willing to share proud news of her grandchildren; always there to "be a good sport" no matter the situation; I knew she appreciated her children; and she enthusiastically shared friendship with all of us. I'm gonna' miss her sweet smile and gentle laugh, her sharing moments in her kitchen, her contributions to fun at Jackson Hole, her same sweet self if she was visiting in the Denver area or in Idaho Falls. Thank you, each one in her family, for sharing her with us.

One childhood memory comes back to mind: how did Peggy get her name? I once asked her and was told she chose it herself. Our mother liked polysyllabic but girls names but Peggy did not. So when was about six she followed the lead of her cousin Patricia and her older sister and the three little girls became Patty, Peggy, and Polly.

I did not get the chance to meet Peggy, but dealt with her Douglas on a government claim for his father and I remember Doug talking so fondly of his mother and when I had to call with questions she was one of the sweetest ladies ever. My thoughts and prayers are with you Doug at this painful time.
