Lorna Lou Rayner Garriott

Lorna Rayner Garriott, 71, of Menan, passed away January 30, 2023, at her home.

Lorna was born in Great Falls, Montana, to Dean and Helen Rayner when her dad was in the Air Force. She grew up and attended schools in England and Idaho Falls, graduating from Skyline High and Vogue Beauty School.

In 1980, Lorna married Danny Garriott. They were divorced in 1993. After their divorce, Lorna maintained a lifelong-relationship with Randy Anderson until he passed away in 2018.

She was a school bus driver for District 91 in Idaho Falls for 20 years and retired from the district in the early 1990s. She dearly loved the children on her route and their families.

Lorna was a believer in Christ as the exact human representation of the Father of all creation and the only way to a right relationship with Him in life and death.

She had many other interests as well, including cats and their care and companionship, playing pinochle, and billiards. In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling and seeing other places. She also enjoyed learning about Israel and archeological finds that supported the facts and historical accounts that are recorded in the Bible, some of which had been disputed before scientists found evidence in archeological digs.

During her years as a school bus driver, she was an advocate for the people who worked and were cared for at the Developmental Workshop, many of whom she'd transported via her school bus route.

Lorna is survived by stepdaughters, Stephanie of Nampa and Aimee (Matt) of Idaho Falls; her stepson, Nick (Jammie) of Idaho Falls; her nephew, Jeff of Fairbanks, AK; sister-in-law, Tara of Fairbanks, AK; her long-time friend and helper, Jessica of Lewisville; and some grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed! Her last caregiver, Liz, and any other medical or household caregivers over the years are very appreciated.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert "Bob;” and partner, Randy.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. on February 18, 2023, at the Idaho Falls Parks and Rec "East Room" at 1575 N. Skyline Drive. A fried chicken lunch will likely be served. Following, any are invited to play pool in memory of her at a place to be decided upon. Please bring a song or memory that you'd like to share that reminds you of Lorna. Please contact 206-8726 with questions or comments, or if you're a child of Randy Anderson.

Donations on Lorna's behalf may be made to the family, to EICAP in Idaho Falls, or to the Idaho Falls animal shelter, especially for programs to help with the costs to spay and neuter cats. Or simply help a loved one, who can't easily afford it with the cost or transportation to get their cat(s) spayed or neutered, even if it's one at a time.
