Lorna Ellis Collette, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 30, 2015, at her home. She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Lorna was born August 16, 1927, in Labelle, Idaho, the daughter of James A. Ellis and Alice Wandella Moses Ellis. She grew up and attended grade school in Labelle, and graduated from Rigby High School in 1945.
On October 13, 1946, she married Donald W. Collette in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 12, 1950. To this union were born six children, Jim, Doug, Boyd, Alan, Sherri, and Darwyn. After the children grew up, Lorna worked for the U.S. Post Office as a rural mail carrier. She had various routes, but her favorite was Route #3 until she retired in 1987. She loved this mail route and worked for 25 years.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Poitevin Park Ward, where she served in the Relief Society. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, traveling, cooking, and scrapbooking. She loved her family and friends, and spending time with them. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor.
Lorna is survived by her
son, James E. (Lucy) Collette of Idaho Falls;
son, Boyd (Linda “Suzy”) Collette of Idaho Falls;
son, Alan Blaine (Debbie) Collette of Idaho Falls;
daughter, Sherri Jean (Jerry) McArthur of Vail, CO;
brother, George Ellis of Idaho Falls;
sister, Betty Reiman of Ririe, ID;
17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Collette; sons, Donald Douglas and Darwyn Ross Collette (at birth); sister, Helen Larna; and brothers, Wendell and Louis Ellis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2015, at the Idaho Falls LDS Rose Park Ward, 1165 Azalea, with Bishop Graham Whipple officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
