LORIN HARPER Click here to view a video of Lorin's life IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lorin Jon Harper, 62, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 4, 2008, at his home of cancer. He was under the care of Hospice Alliance and Dr. Dane Dickson. He was born June 8, 1945, in Ogden, Utah, to Alfred LeRoy Harper and June Poole Harper. He attended Layton Elementary in Layton, Utah. The family moved to Idaho Falls in 1956. He attended O.E. Bell Jr. High School and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He married Vonda Lee Nelson November 22, 1969, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized December 20, 1980, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Iona, where they raised their children. He worked as a firefighter and EMT for the City of Idaho Falls for 26 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the bishopric and as a priesthood leader at girl's camp. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, garage sales, snowmobiling, home carpentry work and especially spending time with his grandchildren; Braydon, Conner, Kaitlyn, Devin Jon, Wyatt and Kymberlee. Survivors include: Wife: Vonda Harper, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Chelsea (Jacob) Duncan, Shelley, ID Son: Travis (Christina) Harper, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Gary (Sandi) Beckman, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Dave (Barbara) Harper, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Brett (Leisa) Harper, Nampa, ID 6 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Norman. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at the Iona LDS Stake Center, corner of Ririe Highway and Iona Road (55th East), with Bishop Bradley Bailey of the Iona 5th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
