Lori Ann Brehm Merkner, 60, of Rigby, passed away September 7, 2016, at her home. Lori was born August 8, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to Arthur C. Brehm and Virginia Lois (Wilkins) Brehm. She grew up in Chicago and South Holland and attended our Lady Gate of Heaven Elementary, Seton High School, and Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois. On November 5, 1977, she married Alan Merkner in Chicago, Illinois, where Lori worked as a barber. Lori and Alan later relocated to Rigby, Idaho, where they lived for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Church and attended Christ the King in Idaho Falls. Her biggest interests and enjoyment came from her relationships with her family and her many, many good friends. An avid bicyclist, she completed numerous centuries. She also loved kayaking, snowshoeing, and crafting, including sewing, tole and water color painting, and Corvair cars. Lori is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Alan Merkner of Rigby, ID; sister, Holly V. Brehm Knowles of Lansing, IL; brother, John Brehm of Placerville, CA; brother, Fred A. (Katherine) Brehm of Bel Air, MD; sister, Krista (William) McCollum of Schererville, IN; sister, Claire (Frank) Shepherd of Pocatello, ID. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur C. Brehm, mother, Virginia L. Brehm, and a sister, Sharon R. Stout. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2016, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1690 East 17th Street. Rosary Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with visitation following until 8:00 p.m.
