Loren Webb

Loren A. Webb was born on April 26, 1929, in Ucon, Idaho, to William Rawlings Webb and Ida Metcalf Webb. He was the youngest of four children. He passed from this earthly life on April 14, 2023, twelve days short of his 94th birthday.

Loren’s childhood years were spent in Ucon and he graduated from Ucon High School. He excelled in sports and was an outstanding basketball player. He shared many memories of his time during the summers in Leslie, Idaho, with his Metcalf cousins, enjoying the farm and horseback adventures up Pass Creek and Elbow Canyon. After graduating from high school, he attended Ricks College, and later joined the Army to serve in the Korean War. When he returned home in April of 1953, Loren met and started dating his red-headed beauty, Colleen Elizabeth Lowe, and they married on October 7, 1953. They raised their five children and had a great life in Ucon next to his parents’ home.

Dad was a true patriot, was very proud of his service, and had a contagious love of his country. There was never a dull moment in the Webb home with three girls, two mischievous boys, and all the neighbors they had and loved. He was a true outdoors man and was an avid hunter and fisherman. The family enjoyed camping on the South Fork of the Snake River, and they had many family vacations to the Oregon Coast. He then found a true passion for the game of golf and had amazing four hole-in-ones.

Loren had a long career at the INL, beginning in 1955, until retiring in 1986, as the Communications Manager. During business trips, he never missed sending Colleen love letters. He enjoyed his career and made lifelong friends. During this time, he was also a referee for high school basketball, always sharing stories of bad roads and being chased and escorted from certain towns.

After retirement, Mom and Dad spent many years as snowbirds in Sun City, Arizona, and later moved to St. George, Utah. They later returned home to Idaho Falls. Dad always had a great sense of character, and a sense of humor that was unending. He had an unconditional love of his family and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We find comfort in knowing he is finding golf balls in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Colleen Webb; his children, Tawnya (Varcel) Huntsman, Jeffrey (Lois) Webb, Kelly (Sheri) Webb, and Loree (Rob) Wing; 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Erma Hille and Carole Woodvine; brother, Darrell; daughter, Vicki Shea; and grandson, Chandler Webb.

Per his request, no service will be held at this time. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support, Aspen Home Health and Hospice, and the staff at MorningStar Senior Living.
