Lola Neva Corak McCormick, 94, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 8, 2012, at The Gables Assisted Living Center in Ammon of causes incident to age. Lola was born March 23, 1918, in Midway, Utah, to Eli Corak and Alice Bigler Corak. When she was 3 years old her father was killed in a mining accident in Pennsylvania. Her mother later married Sam Colovich and moved the family to Eureka, Utah. She graduated from Eureka High School and spent her summers in Midway with her grandmother, Rosetts Crebs Bigler. Lola always considered Midway her home. In 1937 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert J. “Bob” McCormick, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their son, Robert Patrick “Spike,” was born September 8, 1938, in Eureka, Utah. Bob entered the U. S. Navy in 1941 to serve during World War II. Their second son, Michael Paul McCormick, was born in 1944, in Payson, Utah. During the war the family lived in Eureka, Utah, Midway, Utah, and Hailey, Idaho. Lola was a wife, homemaker, and mother. She also worked as a legal secretary. Lola always enjoyed sewing and crafts. In 1948, the family moved to Longview, Washington, followed by a move to Pocatello, Idaho, in 1953, to Idaho Falls in 1955, and to Boise, Idaho, in 1961. They later lived in Southern California for awhile, then moved to Heber, Utah, to be near Lola’s mother until she passed away. They returned to Idaho Falls in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, who passed away in 1999, her two sons, Michael Paul in 1974, and Robert P. “Spike,” who passed away in 2009, and a granddaughter, Amber McCormick Hoopes, who passed away in 2001. Her son Spike always recalled that when his mom made a friend they were a friend for life, and she never spoke badly of anyone. Lola is survived by her Brother, Bill (Joan) Colovich, of Heber, UT; Brother, Ken (Carol) Colovich; of American Fork, UT; Grandson, Michael (Tina) McCormick, of Rigby, ID; Granddaughter, Molly McCormick Giacomazzo of Boise, ID; Grandson, Tim (Sara) McCormick, of Burback, CA; Grandson, Pete (Julie) McCormick, of Dennis, MA; 9 Great Grandchildren, Presley Giacomazzo, Adriano Giacomazzo, Ryan McCormick, Rob McCormick, Sariah McCormick, Harris McCormick, Paul McCormick, Robert McCormick and Abraham McCormick, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; Daughter-In-Law, Carol McCormick of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter-In-Law, Teresa McCormick of Lake Wood, WA; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Midway, Utah.
