LOIS WALL
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lois Jane Olson Wall was born on January 11, 1924, in Lewistown, MT. She was the youngest of three children born to Robert Arvid Olson and Della Padgett Olson. She passed away on August 11, 2002, at her home at Fairwinds Retirement Center.
At the age of 2, the family moved to Twin Falls, ID, where she was raised. At an early age she took tap dancing lessons. She excelled at this, helping teach, as well as giving many performances throughout her junior and senior high school days. This love of dance stayed with her the rest of her life. She also excelled at swimming, taking first place in the state competition. After graduating from Twin Falls High School, she and her older sister hitch-hiked to San Francisco, where she went to work as secretary to the base commander at the Naval hospital. After the war, she moved to Ogden, UT, where she met and married Alvin Sigety. They moved to Boise, ID, where their daughter, Renee, was bom. They later divorced. On May 2, 1949, she married George Wall. In 1957 they had a son, Rick.
Lois helped George in his paint contracting business, taking care of the office, until they retired. They lived in many different places in Idaho, moving from job to job, and finally settling in Idaho Falls, where they raised their family.
Lois was a joy to be around! She always had a joke or story to tell. Her sense of humor was sharp and witty! She was an avid card player, teaching Renee how to play at the age of 2. From then on, they played cards together until shortly before her death.
She was also a very giving person, always ready to help whenever she could. She came out of retirement to help Rick with his painting business as long as he needed her.
She was a member of the D.O.E.S. Drove #106. Her hobbies included bowling, ceramics, pinochle and bridge. At the age of 74 she took up motorcycle riding!
She is survived by her daughter, Renee (Michael) Murdock, and her son, Rick (Toni) Wall, both of Idaho Falls, step-daughters, Joan (Tom) Buckmaster and Carol (Brian) Smith, both of Boise, 5 grandsons, 5 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 9 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Eileen Green, her brother, Richard Olson, and her husband.
In lieu of a funeral, the family will have a Memorial Open House in celebration of her life from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 16th, at the Murdock home, 2915 South Boulevard, and ask that friends and family stop by to share their remembrances.
