Lois Ellen Lovell Parry, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 15, 2014 at Morningstar surrounded by her family. She was under the care of Aspen Hospice.
Lois was born March 2, 1923 in Ririe, Idaho, to George and Harriett Lovell. She was raised in a happy home with two sisters and three brothers. She grew up and attended school in Ririe and graduated in 1941. She was very proficient in shorthand and typing and taught both subjects while still a high school student. She loved roller skating and performed all over the valley. Later she attended BYU.
Lois worked for Snake River Equipment in Idaho Falls and then International Harvester in Salt Lake. While working in Salt Lake, her co-worker, Vadis Parry introduced her cousin, John Parry to Lois. Lois married John (Jack) Paul Parry on March 28, 1943. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 28, 1946. Shortly after their marriage Jack was deployed to Europe until the end of World War II. Their first child, Renne Sue, was born during this time. Five more children were born to this union, Harriett, Kristine, John, Jackie and Steven. They also helped raise three grandchildren, Terry, Tammi and Rozie.
Lois was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the Church. She especially loved teaching young people. In 1990, Jack and Lois served a church mission to Anaheim, California.
Lois was an extraordinary seamstress, fashioning dresses, quilts, capes, towels, aprons, sleeping sacks, and handmade Christmas ornaments for all her descendants. Lois was her children's, grandchildren's, great and great-great grandchildren's greatest fan. She and Jack attended countless sporting events, dance recitals and music recitals. She was always ready to play games, go snow skiing, sledding, or make a treat for loved ones. One of her favorite places to spend time was at their Palisades cabin where many wonderful memories were made with her children and grandchildren.
Lois was a wonderful friend. She was always kind, thoughtful and a tremendous example of service to others. She was a woman of love, generosity, courage and integrity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her three beautiful daughters: Renne Sue Roe, Harriett Millburn and Kristine Powell, her son-in-law Chuck Roe, her brothers Ray, George and Rendon Lovell and her sister Leah Cleverly.
Lois is survived by Jack, her loving husband of over 71 years, her two sons, John D (Renee) and Steven (Sharon), and her daughter Jackie (Mark) Fuller, the three grandchildren she helped raise, Terry (Debie) Roe, Tammi (Frank) Hopkins, Rozie (Brad) Couch, two sons-in-law Ron Millburn and Glade Powell, her sister Myrna (Ken) Hamilton, twenty-five additional grandchildren, seventy great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
