Lois E Gunnell Lyon, 99, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 24, 2019, at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
Lois was born October 1, 1920, in Herbert, Idaho, to George Hill Gunnell and Josephine Edna Gillis Gunnell. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and Idaho Falls.
In 1938, she married Ronald Stratton. They were the parents of four children, Larry, Rodney, Devere, and Colleen. They were later divorced.
On February 27, 1954, she married Amos John Lyon in Pocatello, Idaho. They were the parents of two children, Karen and Kathy. Lois and Amos made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Lois worked as a food services for the hospital.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed her grandkids, reading, cooking, travel, and did a lot of handwork including sewing. She enjoyed her family most of all.
Lois is survived by her loving son, Devere Stratton of St. Anthony, ID; daughter, Colleen Woolen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Karen (Robert) Osborn of Howe, ID; brother, Pherris “Gill” Gunnell of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons, Larry G. Stratton and Rodney E. Stratton, and daughter, Kathy Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
