Lloyd Greenhalgh

Verl Lloyd Greenhalgh, age 88, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away peacefully at The Gables Assisted Living of Idaho Falls, Idaho, on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Lloyd was born on November 15, 1937, to Alma Wilburn Greenhalgh and Ethel Marguerite Hiatt in Wilford, Idaho. He was the 11th of 17 children born to this union. He attended schools at Wilford Elementary and South Fremont High.

He married DeAnn Bergeson on August 30, 1958. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 12, 1965. They lived most of their life in St. Anthony, Idaho, where they raised four children, later moved to Ririe, Idaho, and then Rigby, Idaho.

Lloyd worked for many people and places in his early career, at Hopperdietzel Cheese and Nelson Ricks Creamery, with his brother, Keith and Dick Davis, where they built many dormitories at Rick’s College, Nielsen Brothers Construction, and then went out on his own and spent the rest of his career building many beautiful homes in the valley for many people with his son, Kirt. Lloyd took pride in his work and was well known for high quality work. He was very talented and particular with his construction projects.

Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying many activities, such as hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling (even raced in the 101 races from St. Anthony to West Yellowstone). Lloyd had many trophy fish mounts hanging in his home and shop.

Lloyd loved playing with his grandchildren, many days were spent playing with them. Memories of them putting ponytails in his hair to giving them his Trident chewing gum and letting them tickle him with his pheasant feathers gathered over the years of hunting. It was always fun when Grandpa was around. He loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, DeAnn Greenhalgh of Rigby, ID; his children, LaRell (Brenda) Greenhalgh of Iona, ID, Kirt (Susan) Greenhalgh of Ririe, ID, Michele (Alan) Parkinson of Plano ID, Alan (Wendi) Greenhalgh of Meridian, ID; 14 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren, with 1 great-grandbaby and 1 great-great grandbaby on the way; and his sister, Natella (Lynn) Romrell of Sugar City, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Ethel Greenhalgh; 5 sisters, Dorothy Leffler, Norma Ball, Faye Davies, Barbara Rigby, and Joyce Chapple; 10 brothers, Keith, LaMar, Sylvan, Emrys, Dale, Nile, Brent, Larry, Terry, and Dennis Greenhalgh.
