Lisa Stephens

Lisa Marie Stephens, 63, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, joined her lord in heaven on October 29 2017, at her home.

Lisa was born October 28, 1954, in Winfield, Kansas, to Dr. Carroll Dean Henry Behrhorst and Elizabeth Jean King Behrhorst. She grew up alongside her siblings in Guatemala where her father ran a medical program to serve the rural Kaqchikel Indians. She told of her adventures climbing volcanoes and running wild. She spoke fluent Spanish. She attended schools in Winfield because her father felt this would be the best educational opportunity for her, she refereed to it as attending school in the "States" She graduated high school from St. Johns Academy. She also attended Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska for a short time. She knew from the time she was very young that she wanted to be a nurse, and achieved her dream when she graduated from what is now Eastern Idaho Technical College in Idaho Falls as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

She moved to Idaho Falls with her husband and children in 1989. They would go on to buy a little red brick house with some land in Ammon, Idaho and raise their family.

When her children were a bit older Lisa went back to work as a nurse where she worked at Life Care Center in Idaho falls. She dedicated fifteen years and so much love to the people she was caring for at Life Care. Those that worked with her know that she is a nurse to be admired. She loved what she did and the people that she cared for, and she was dedicated to it completely. Lisa loved and was loved by all her coworkers.

There is no other Grandma like Lisa is to her grandchildren and great grandson. She was more like a mother to them. Every moment she was not working, she was raising babies. She never missed a stocking on Christmas morning or an Easter basket. To all of her babies, she means the world. The heartbreak that her absence will leave in the hearts of her family can not be measured. Her memory will live forever in our hearts. She was a Christian and believed strongly in the teaching of the bible which she was tattered and written in from being read and studied. She loved telling her children bible stories and started each meal with the family prayer. Her faith never faltered and her family has no doubt that she has been welcomed home by her savior and family in heaven.

Lisa is survived by her daughter, Heather M. Wood of Rigby, ID; son, Patrick Stephens of Ammon, ID; son, Joshua Stephens of Ammon, ID; daughter, Emily Stephens of Ammon, ID; sister, CaroleAnne (Theone) Maupin of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Christopher Lewis Behrhorst of LaPlace, LA; sister, Elizabeth Anne (Scott) Olsen of Firth, ID; brother, Kurt Henry Behrhorst of New Orleans, LA; brother, Gregory King Behrhorst of New Orleans, LA; 8 grandchildren; Ashley, Kyle, Brighton, Jaxon, Alexcis, RaeLee, and her namesakes Alyssa and Patli and 1 great grandchild Oliver.
