Linda Packer

Click here to view video tribute made by Linda's family Linda Lee McNamara Packer, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away on March 25, 2017, at her home.

She was born March 19, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Gordon Thomas McNamara and Eva Bailey McNamara. She grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Ammon Elementary, O.E. Bell Junior High and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She also attended University of Utah majoring in music.

On September 16, 1960, she married Don Peck Packer in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. To this union were born six children: Scott, Paul, Lorraine, Heather, Renee, and Jesse. Linda and Don lived in Sugar City, Rexburg, Rigby and most recently in Idaho Falls. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She served in the Idaho Falls Temple as an ordinance worker. She excelled in music, played the piano and organ, and participated in many community music productions. She was the ward organist in every ward she was in since she was 12 years old. Linda enjoyed reading; especially the scriptures, classics, and mysteries. She excelled in homemaking, and caring for her family. She cherished all children and babies.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Don Packer of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Scott M. (Robin) Packer of Twin Falls, ID; son, Paul M. (Darlean) Packer of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lorraine (Tracy) Bradley of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Heather (Shawn) Stolworthy of Firth, ID; daughter, Renee (Chris) Tucker of St. Anthony, ID; son, Jesse M. (Ashley) Packer of Rigby, ID; sister, Sherry Marlana (Dane) Watkins of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Jan Lorraine (Steve) Holtom of Idaho Falls, ID; 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Michael Scott Packer.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 31, 2017, at Idaho Falls LDS Lincoln 3rd Ward, 2545 Mesa Street, with Bro. Dave Herrin officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6:30-8 pm at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Friday from 10-10:45 am prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
