LINDA NIELSEN
IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO -- Linda Rae Simmons Nielsen, 68, of Hamer, passed away June 17, 2010, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 21, 1942, in Idaho Falls to Jack and Marjorie Simmons. The eldest of three, she was followed by Sara (Ace Russell) and Jay (Lucy). She grew up and attended school in Terreton, Idaho.
In 1959, she married Gylde Spackman and they moved to Preston, Idaho where four children were born: Rodlyn, Rance, Kyle and JaDee. They were later divorced.
Linda became a waitress and cook at various establishments in the Preston area, especially the bowling alley.
In 1972, she moved back to Mud Lake Area and with the help of her father started running the Oasis Café and that evolved into running the connected bar. She reacquainted herself with old friends and met and made many new friends.
In 1974, she married Billy Nielsen and they made their home in Hamer, Idaho. To that union a daughter, Rachel, was born and soon after JaDee was adopted and became a Nielsen.
She was survived by her husband, Bill; a sister, Sara; a brother, Jay; three daughters, Rodlyn (Ed) GrandPre of Ogden, Utah; JaDee Anderson (friend, Martin) and Rachel (Lance) Poole both of Rigby, Idaho; and her beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sons; first, Kyle and later, Rance.
Linda was very gifted in her crocheting and needlepoint. She dearly loved her flowers and gardening.

We were so sorry to hear of Linda's illness and death. We thought a lot of her and remember with fondness the times we associated with her when she lived here in Preston. She was a wonderful seamstress and made most of my prom dresses for me, in fact, my daughters have worn some of them also. She was a good friend those years ago and remains so today. Our sincerest regards to her husband and family.
Sincerely, Becky
