Lillian Ellen Nelson Abbott, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 11, 2012, at her home in Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Center. She was under the care of her family and Creekside Home Health & Hospice.
Lil was born December 27, 1921, in Denver, Colorado, to Nick Nelson and Lillie E. Eshenower Nelson. The family moved to California and she grew up and attended schools in the Los Angeles area. She lived there for 50 years, in northern California for 30 years, and moved to Idaho Falls ten years ago.
On May of 1941 she married Omer Lee Abbott in Yuma, Arizona. To this union were born three children, Jerry, Linda, and Judy. Lil was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She also worked with Omer in his cabinet making business for 20 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When her children were growing up she volunteered in the public school system. Lil enjoyed collecting antique clocks and having parties with her family.
Lillian is survived by her loving husband of more than 70 years, Omer, of Idaho Falls,
Son, Jerry (Karen) Abbott of Idaho Falls, ID;
Daughter, Linda (Carl) York of Lincoln City, OR,
Daughter, Judy Shepherd of Chico, CA;
6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Irene O’Brien and Margaret Bervon, and two infant sons.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the home of her son, Jerry.
