Lilas Hunter

Lilas Maureen Hunter, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 22, 2011, at Idaho Falls Care and Rehabilitation Center. Lilas was born April 2, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Emil Leroy Johnson and Verla May Clay Johnson. She grew up in Coltman and attended schools in the area. She moved to Pocatello in 1958 and lived there until the last seven years, when she moved to Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center. Lilas married Walter C. Hunter on August 5, 1947, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. He passed away July 20, 2007. Lilas was a member of TOPS Club, Sweet Adelines and a Pocatello Bowling League. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in various church callings. Lilas enjoyed reading, cooking, crocheting, camping and fishing. Hunter of Boise, ID; Son, Steven (Nancy) Hunter of Gresham, OR; Son, Paul (Laura) Hunter of Meridian, ID; Daughter, Janice (Don, deceased) Rice of Rupert ID; Son, Todd Hunter of Rupert, ID; Brother, Ore (Sarah, deceased) Johnson of Anaheim, CA; Brother, Richard (Wanda) Johnson of Othello, WA; Brother, Terry (Marlene) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, Randy (Sharlene) Johnson of Lewisville, ID; Brother, Merritt (Charlotte) Johnson of Othello, WA; Sister, Carol (Melton) Rackham of Belding, Michigan; Sister, Darla (Elden, deceased) Cunningham of Pocatello, ID; Sister, Violet (Jerry, deceased) Gardner of Lewisville, ID; Sister, Christine (Gary) Simpson of Othello, WA; Sister, Rhonda (Chris) Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID; Sister, LaVerta (Jesse, deceased) Costello of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother-in-law, James Beard of Idaho Falls, ID; 24 Grandchildren, 48 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Verla Johnson, her husband, Walter and a sister, Gaye Aloha Beard. The family will visit with friends from 6:30to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. and from Noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Ammon LDS West Stake Center, 2055 Coronado, with David Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park immediately following the services.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and on Thursday from Noon to 12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park immediately following the services.
