LEWIS J. GOURLEY
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lewis John Gourley, 69, of Idaho Falls, died of a heart attack on December 14, 2001, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born at Idaho Falls on October 14, 1932 to F. W. (Bill) Gourley and Helen George Gourley. Lewis attended Holy Rosary Catholic School, O. E. Bell, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Master of Science in Education Degree from the University of Idaho. In 1973, he earned his Education Specialist Degree from Idaho State University.
He taught at Central Jr. High School and O. E. Bell. He served as principal at New Sweden School, assistant principal at Idaho Falls High School, principal at Clair E. Gail Jr. High for 18 years, and principal at Skyline High School for 11 years.
In the 1960's, he was active in education organizations and served as president of the IFEA and the IEA. Lew enjoyed his associations with his many colleagues in education and the friends he made while playing golf, the sport he loved.
On August 21, 1955, he married Florine "Mickey" Moran in Idaho Falls where they resided with the exception of his service in the Army while stationed in Augusta, Georgia.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Monday, December 17, 2001, at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 9th & Lee, with Father Mike St. Marie officiating.
