LEWIS L. GIFFORD
Lewis Laverl Gifford, 84, of Idaho Falls, died February 6, 2002, at Sun City Convalescent Center in Sun City, California.
He was born April 25, 1917 at Woodville, Idaho to George Alvin Gifford and Florence Ellen Chaffin Gifford. He attended schools in the area and earned his GED from the University of Idaho.
He married Betty Adele Wren on May 25, 1939 at Kimball, Idaho. On May 25, 1959 their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a farmer, truck driver, laborer, Idaho Fish and Game Elk Trapper, State of Idaho Hiway Department Snowplow Driver, and Equipment Operator for Bonneville County. He was president of the Community Water Association.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a good neighbor, a temple worker, and served as a scoutmaster. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, the outdoors, and loved spending time with his family and serving in the church.
Surviving are:Wife: Betty Gifford, Sun City, CASon: Jerry Laverl Gifford, Kamiah, IDSon: Carleon Jay Gifford, Nuevo, CADaughter: Beverly (James) French, Spokane, WADaughter: Shirley Gifford, Sun City, CABrother: Oscar (Opal) Gifford, Olympia, WABrother: Alma (Lola) Gifford, Shelley, ID 10 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by seven sisters, two brothers, and his son, Marvin Lewis Gifford. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Monday, February 11, 2002, at the Idaho Falls West Stake Center (2040 Brentwood Dr.), with Bishop Charles Horsburgh officiating. The family will meet with friends on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery.
