IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lettie Virginia Panting Jones, 93, of Idaho Falls, was called home October 26, 2007. She was born March 25, 1914 in Soda Springs, Idaho, to Christopher Russell Panting and Lettie Rachael Thirkill. She grew up in Soda Springs and graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1932.
She married Floyd Coburn Jones in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 1, 1936. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on January 17, 1996. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various positions within her ward.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, reading and various crafts. She was an inspiration to her family, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter; Mona Rae (Warren) Sayer, two sons, Roger Floyd Jones (Donnie) and Kevin Gene Jones (Judy) all of Idaho Falls; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Blaine Panting. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd; her daughter Jolene Gay Jones McArthur; her sisters, Ursula, Mearl, June, and Gwen; and her brothers, Bud and Russell Panting.
Her family would like to thank the staff at the Gables in Idaho Falls, Dr. Flint Packer and Creekside Hospice for their kindness, compassion and love.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at the Idaho Falls LDS 21st Ward, 1155 East First Street, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Phillip Wheatley officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 before services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.

We are so sorry that we cannot attend the funeral for your dear mother. We are so glad that we saw her on Tuesday and expressed our love for her. She is a special lady and holds a very special place in our hearts. We will miss her sweet smile and her hugs and kisses.
