LETHA STAKER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Letha Mary Staker, 88, of Idaho Falls,
Idaho died June 23, 2004, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center.
She was born October 29, 1915, in Smithfield, Utah, to
Frederick John Samuel Pack and Alice Elizabeth Watson Pack. Shortly after
her birth the family moved to Virginia, Idaho, then to McCammon, Pocatello,
King Hill, and Gooding. She attended Washington School in Pocatello and
graduated from Gooding High School. She then took her nurses training
at the LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls.
She married Gerald Woodrow Staker November 5, 1937, in
the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where
she was a homemaker and mother. They then moved to Montpelier, Idaho,
where he opened a photography business. They moved to Tucson, Arizona,
and she continued to help him in their photography business before returning
to Idaho Falls, where they started Staker Photo & Blueprint Company
on Park Avenue. They later relocated to “D” Street, which
became Staker’s Photo and Floral. After their retirement they moved
to Mesa, Arizona, and Letha returned to Idaho Falls after Gerald passed
away September 12, 1997.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, she served in various callings over the years, including Ward
Relief Society President, Stake Young Women President, and in the Stake
Relief Society. She served three full-time missions with her husband,
the first to Rome, Italy, the second to the Visitor’s Center in
Lake Placid, New York, and the third to the Visitor’s Center in
Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed reading, floral design, painting, crafts, stitchery,
and traveling.

17 Grandchildren, 50 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Dorian
Paul Staker, and daughter-in-law, Susan Staker, two brothers, Clarence
Pack and Fred Pack, three sisters, Ada Marks, Connie Dewey, and Jesse
Pack, a grandson, David Staker, and a great granddaughter, Julianne Staker.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3,
2004, at the Ucon LDS 4th Ward, 2967 East 105 North, Ucon, with Bishop
Steve Winchester of the Ucon 4th Ward officiating. The family will visit
with friends Saturday from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home.
