Leonard Plaizier, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 5, 2017, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. He was under the care of One Source Hospice. Leonard was born June 7, 1934, in Harlingen Friesland, Netherlands, to Melis Ari Plaizier and Aagje Trijntje Torenbeek Plaizier. He grew up and attended schools in the Netherlands. At the age of 16, he immigrated with his family to Idaho Falls, Idaho. He loved the United States. On July 27, 1956, he married Dana Aller in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born four children, Catherine, Daniel, David, and Sue. Leonard and Dana made their home in Idaho Falls, where Leonard worked as an industrial painter for Argonne National Laboratory. He was a hard worker. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors. Leonard also enjoyed square dancing. He was a dedicated husband and father and loved spending time with his family. Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dana Plaizier of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Catherine (Marvin) Foster of Moore, ID; son, Daniel (Dellrae Heyrend) Plaizier of Idaho Falls, ID; son, David (Lori) Plaizier of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Sue (Randy) Rowe of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Jack Plaizier of Gilbert, AZ; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Sientje Bodemeijer Plaizier, and brothers, Pete and Carl Plaizier. The family would like to thank the staff of Lincoln Court Retirement Community and the staff of One Source Hospice for the excellent care given to Leonard. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
