LEONA GROVER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Leona Josephine Nelson Grover, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away at her daughter's home in Idaho Falls on July 25, 2009, from causes incident to age. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Leona was born March 13, 1916, in Marysville, Idaho, to James Clarence Nelson and Viola Agnes Thompson Nelson. Leona loved growing up on the Teton Valley ranch with her parents and nine siblings. Leona made many dear friends throughout her life and always enjoyed an exemplary friendship with her siblings. She graduated Teton High School in 1935.
In 1940, Leona married Grant Robert Grover for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple and they raised four children in their Driggs home. In 1975, Leona obtained her real estate license and became the first real estate associate in Teton Valley.
Leona was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in nearly every leadership position in the church, including Stake Relief Society President. Leona was an accomplished artist & seamstress. She also loved reading and quilting. Leona was physically active and full of energy with a zest for life. She enjoyed a challenge and hiked in the Tetons with several of her friends at age 77. Leona loved being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed hosting friends and family in her home and beautiful yard. Her kitchen was always full of wonderful food to share with her many grandchildren. Leona lived in her Driggs home until 2007 when she moved to Fairwinds Retirement Center in Idaho Falls.
Leona's generosity and testimony of Jesus Christ radiated from her and encompassed everyone she knew. She was an example of humility and love. Leona will be missed by all who knew her.

Brothers: Arlo Nelson, Rex Nelson, Guy Nelson,
Sisters: Ella Griggs, Helen Kunz, Phyllis Humphrey, and Bonnie Jensen
19 grandchildren; and 37 great grand children. Leona was proceded in death by her husband, Grant Robert Grover; parents, Clad and Viola Nelson; one sister, Nola Christensen; and two brothers, Harold (who died in infancy) and Wells Nelson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at the Idaho Falls LDS Crestwood Ward, 2055 Coronado, with Bishop Sheldon Dance officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Driggs Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue.

Leona was a dear friend. She sold us the old Van Dustin place at Victor. We often talked and enjoyed each other's company. She was quite a lady! I am so glad to have been part of her life and Carorolyn, Too!

Just wanted to let you all know we were thinking about you during this difficult time. It is always sad when our loved ones leave this mortal state, but it is also very wonderful to think of the family and friends that are there beyond the veil to welcome Leona home. We are so happy and excited for her as she begins this new part of her life under our Heavenly Father's wonderful plan of happiness. Lynn and I are sorry to hear of Aunt Leona's death. I loved going to her house. She always fed us amazing meals. She sent us away with raspberry jam the last time we saw her. She will be greatly missed.
